The Bookshop of Requirement (BOR) is a progressive, woman-owned independent pop-up, online and mobile bookshop selling new & used books in the greater Western North Carolina area! BOR specializes in Romance, Fantasy/Sci-Fi and Banned Books. BOR has become famous for our Knight Mascots seen at our pop-ups! Sir Reads-a-lot and Lady Literature. They are the protectors of the written word.
Our mission
Here at The Bookshop of Requirement, we believe that books can truly change your world. Reading is not only a great way to escape, but its also extremely powerful; because knowledge is power. Books allow you to understand others, cultures, ideas, emotions and etc. With all the book banning, and attacks on vulnerable communities, The Bookshop of Requirement is a welcoming safe place for those be themselves, discover a great book, and connect with others. So take a break, look at our blog page sharing stories of other bookshops, coffee shops, plant shops and etc, come see us at one of our pop-ups, get your picture taken with our knight statue, subscribe to our YouTube channel Booking About It and share this mission with us. Where is The Bookshop of Requirement?
We are online and mobile doing pop events primarily in between Asheville and Charlotte areas of North Carolina! Follow us on Instagram or check our special events page for up coming pop-up shops!
Do you do custom private events?
YES! We can customize our book selection for your special event! Got a wedding and want a micro bookshop experience or book themed wedding we can help you plan it! We can even help design custom merchandise such as tote bags or curated book selection for your event too!
Do you partner with other small businesses for pop ups?
YES! We would love to partner with another small business and pop-up to bring in more business for you. Coffee shops, plant shops, thrift stores, game shops and etc are commonly associated with one another but BOR is interested in any business partnership including non-profit pop up requests. Contact us through Instagram messaging or on the contact page.
Hours of Operation:
Online 24/7 365 (unless otherwise noted)
Online orders get shipped out ASAP! During big sales or the busy holiday season every Monday and Friday.
